My name is Michael Evans.. My wife, Melanie, and I live in Orem, Utah, with our daughter Mable. I grew up in Texas where I was fortunate to have lots of family living nearby, mostly aunts, uncles and cousins from my father’s side of the family. I knew three of my great-grandparents and I can’t wait to tell Mable about them. I love family stories that provide insights about who my ancestors were. There is much to learn from those that have gone before us. Knowing that your grandfather “lived through this” or “experienced that” makes the stories real, personal and more valuable than other history lessons.

      I started making family history cards as a way to teach my family about our ancestors. I came up with the name Who Begat You to reflect the direct line ancestors I was currently focusing on. I quickly realized, however, that Who Begat You could be used to learn about any of your relatives from aunts and uncles to cousins. I've been thinking lately about how families are now spread across the nation and sometimes world. Even teaching your kids to recognize who their uncles and aunts are is sometimes difficult. I feel that this site can help you with that.
